Sleep Like It Matters

I’ve met so many ambitious, kind, hardworking people who treat sleep like an afterthought. But here’s what I always say: Sleep functions as the body’s essential system update. Overall physiological and cognitive performance declines significantly due to insufficient sleep.
As a physiotherapist and educator, I’ve studied how poor sleep affects healing, hormones, and mental clarity. You can be eating kale and running marathons but if you're not sleeping well, your body is still in survival mode.
🧠 What happens during deep sleep?
- Your brain clears out toxins
- Muscles repair and grow
- Hormones rebalance
- Your nervous system resets
🌙 3 simple ways to improve sleep:
- Turn off screens an hour before bed. Blue light delays melatonin.
- Create a wind-down signal. One calming routine: stretching, a warm drink, or journaling.
- Go to bed at the same time. Yes, even on weekends. Your body loves rhythm.
Sleeping isn’t lazy. It’s a lifesaving. Protect it like your health depends on it.
